With the contribution of more than 20,000 global experts, IEC is the independent, global organisation that develops and publishes state of the art international standards for electrical and electronic products and related services, used by companies and government policy makers all over the world.

Recognising the breadth of his expertise and no less than forty three years in the field of electrical product compliance and safety standards in a wide range of categories, BWES Managing Director Geoffrey Booth has been appointed Chair of the IEC working group ‘SC 61H’.

With five committee officers and thirteen participating member countries, the scope of the group is to prepare international safety standards for electrical appliances primarily intended for agricultural use on farms such as for electric fencing, harvesting, processing, packaging, breeding or cultivation of agricultural produce.

The appointment follows Geoffrey’s thirty five years in national standards development and eighteen years as Head of the Australian Delegation to the IEC, and also recognises his work with Australia’s largest agricultural machinery manufacturer and supplier, Sunbeam Corporation, prior to his current directorship.

More information about the working group is available at the IEC website.
